Sagar KC: From IT Graduate to Retention Strategist and Storyteller
Did You Search for Sagar KC?
Maybe you saw my name on a book cover, a LinkedIn post, or a campaign ad. Or someone told you I'm the guy who gets weirdly excited about email flows and retention marketing. Whatever brought you here, I’m glad you came. This is the real version.
Not the polished LinkedIn headline or author bio. This is the one with awkward beginnings, sudden turns, late-night meltdowns, and unexpected wins.
From IT Graduate to Creative Strategist
I completed my BSCCSIT in Computer Science from Madan Bhandari Memorial College. My plan was to become a software developer, a database specialist, or maybe a network engineer. I was fine with code and logic, but I was always pulled toward roles that added structure to creativity.
Unlike many of my classmates, I didn’t jump into freelancing after graduation. I joined a company called Curves n Colors. That place was crucial to my early growth. On day one, I was given real responsibilities and even worked directly with big names like Miss Universe Nepal. It was tough but rewarding. Every campaign counted. Every detail mattered.
That experience taught me marketing isn't about just visuals or buzzwords. It's about consistency, timing, trust, and results.
My Music Chapter
Before marketing, I was making music. Not for likes or shares, but because I loved it. I wrote, mixed, played with sounds, and told stories. It gave me what school never did: freedom.
Strangely enough, the time I spent with headphones and audio software helped shape how I approach marketing today. Music taught me pacing, rhythm, and structure. In email marketing, silence is as powerful as sound. Once you understand flow, you understand conversion.
From Doing to Thinking
Eventually, I didn’t want to just create. I wanted to understand. Why did something work? What made people stay? That curiosity led me into strategy.
I started diving deep into human behavior, retention, and email performance. Most people focus on getting more reach, but I became obsessed with what happens after someone discovers your brand. I cared about the middle and bottom of the funnel. What keeps someone loyal? What pushes them away? That obsession became a full-time career.
Becoming a Speaker (Unexpectedly)
Today, I speak at colleges and conferences. I talk about smart marketing, honest storytelling, and lasting customer retention. I don’t use jargon or play the marketing guru. I keep it real and current.
Speaking wasn’t something I planned, but I’ve grown to enjoy it. Breaking down complex ideas, sharing real stories, and helping people see things differently feels worth it. Whether I’m in a classroom or a boardroom, I just try to keep it helpful, not fluffy.
The Books I Wrote
I've written two books so far:
-
Grow with Email Marketing
A practical guide to building email systems that actually work. Everything I wish someone had shown me when I started. -
The Abandoned Cart Recovery Playbook
A deep dive into getting back those almost-lost sales. Tactical, focused, and no-nonsense.
These books aren’t stuffed with filler. They’re simple, tested, and built for people who want results.
Who I Am Now
Today, I consult teams, train leaders, design campaigns, and build systems that perform. I’m not chasing fame or viral posts. I care about the results we produce together.
I still send emails late at night. I still revise every word three times before hitting send. I still check feedback line by line.
And yes, I still listen to music. It keeps me grounded.
